The general consensus is that people legitimately wanting to get new batteries and pay for them (because obviously, it's a 5 year old computer at this point) are getting replacement laptops because the part is basically out of stock worldwide. Amazing! This is why I have only bought macs since 2003 (not counting hosted servers)
#Macbook pro early 2013 battery capacity update
Update just got my replacement a mid 2015 2.5Ghz quad core 16GB and 512 storage. I'm hopeful they won't be able to find one and I'll get the 2015 model but I could end up screwed and paying $260 for what I started out with. I'm not sure how it'll play out as they said they'd take a month to replace the computer with a different refurbished one that they said would be the same model. Reality is the test is flawed and is affected by the actual charge on the battery. At 20% battery the test failed at 70% health where it passed at 82% health when the battery was at 85%. The geniuses said it wouldn't make a difference but it made a huge difference. The problem was the battery kept passing at 82% and they wouldn't even offer to replace it since it was back ordered but then it occured to me to drain the battery and try again. Saw the post yesterday about the exchange program and thought I'd take advantage of it. I just spent nearly 3 hours convincing apple to replace my battery on my early 2013 battery.
